This job is all about operating heavy machinery to move earth, rock, and debris for construction projects. You’ll work alongside other laborers and use different attachments to get the job done. The work includes following:
- Maintaining and repairing machinery
- Making sure everything is done safely
- Have good communication skills
- Operate the machinery smoothly
- Pass drug and alcohol tests
- Work shifts on weekdays, weekends, and nights
To become an earth moving plant operator, you’ll need to have a current driver’s license and complete one or more of the following qualifications or assessments:
- Certificate II- Bituminous Surfacing
- Certificate II- Civil Construction
- Certificate III- Local Government (Operational Works)
- Skills Set Surface Coal Mine Safety- Statement of Attainment
- Skill Set Underground Coal Mine Safety- Statement of Attainment
- Certificate II- Surface Extraction Operations
- Certificate II- Underground Coal Mining
- Certificate II- Underground Metalliferous Mining
