Early Childhood Teacher

Cumberland City Council proudly operates 14 Education and Care services across the community where our staff educate and care for children from birth to 13 years of age. Across our long day care, out of school hours care and family day care services, our staff are passionate about empowering todays children to become tomorrows future by teaching children to be respectful, resilient and confident in an environment that is accepting, safe and inspiring. 

Council’s Education and Care team are looking for passionate, motivated and skilled leaders to join our team as an Early Childhood Teacher, across our Education and Care Services. The role is responsible for leading, planning, implementing and delivering the educational program to provide a warm and caring environment that enriches and enhances the children’s lives.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Degree in Early Childhood/Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching or equivalent approved by ACECQA
  • Provisional or Proficient Teacher Accreditation with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), and to maintain such accreditation as per NESA requirements
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance Number
  • Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate as approved by ACECQA (or willing to obtain)
  • Completion of Food Handler/Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
  • Proven skills and experience in the following areas: Education and care Staff management and customer service Communication skills in written and oral format Computer operating systems Effective time management and organisational skills
  • A solid understanding of: Code of Conduct Child Protection legislation Work, Health and Safety (WHS) Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) National Quality Framework (NQF): Education and Care Services National Regulations Children (Education and Care Services) National Law (NSW) National Quality Standards (NQS) The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

About this role: There are 2x positions available and will be required to work Monday to Friday on a rotating roster, between 7:00am to 6:00pm  

  • 1x permanent full-time position with access to Council’s 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement (Pemulwuy Children’s Care Centre)
  • 1x permanent part-time position, working Wednesday to Friday, 42 hour fortnight on a rotating roster between 7:00am to 6:00pm (Auburn Long Day Child Care Centre)

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $ to $ per hour, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
